Project Description
You will join a cross-functional squad responsible for quality across customer-facing features. The work blends greenfield automation with thoughtful hardening of existing test assets, focusing on reliability, maintainability, and meaningful coverage. You will help define acceptance criteria, codify critical-path flows, validate integrations with third-party services, and bring data from logs and analytics into test strategy and release readiness.
Core Responsibilities and Expected Deliverables
Design and implement maintainable end-to-end, integration, and component tests aligned to risk and impact.
Build API tests with schema validation and contract checks; model test data for repeatable runs.
Accelerate CI by parallelizing suites, introducing test impact analysis, and reducing flakiness via robust waits and test doubles.
Instrument tests with useful diagnostics (screenshots, HARs, videos, traces) and publish readable reports.
Partner with developers to improve testability, define clear acceptance criteria, and prevent defects early.
Deliver concise coverage and risk reports with go/no-go recommendations for each release.
Required Experience and Preferred Qualifications
Foundation in SDLC, HTTP, browser and mobile app fundamentals, and version control.
Hands-on experience with at least one language used for test automation (TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or Java).
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, environment management, and containerized local setups.
Nice to have: mobile automation (Appium/Detox), performance testing (k6/JMeter), accessibility testing (WCAG), security testing basics, and SQL-based data validation.
Certifications such as ISTQB or CTFL are welcome but not required.
Tools or Platforms to Be Used
Web and component testing: Playwright or Cypress; Test Runner/Testing Library for unit and integration
API testing: Postman or REST Assured; schema and contract checks; Pact for consumer-driven contracts where applicable
Mobile: Appium or Detox for targeted end-to-end flows
CI/CD: GitHub Actions or GitLab CI with parallelization and artifact retention
Reporting and analytics: Allure or HTML reports, dashboards in DataDog/Splunk for error trends
Collaboration: Jira for defect tracking, TestRail or Zephyr for test case management, Notion for test strategies and charters
Language Requirement
English is required for day-to-day collaboration; additional languages are a plus but not required.
Communication Style
Asynchronous-first via Slack and GitHub with weekly Zoom stand-ups, bug triage, and sprint ceremonies. Test strategies, charters, and retrospectives are documented with links back to tickets for traceability.
Time Commitment or Working Window
Approximately 40 hours per week with flexible scheduling; core collaboration windows target late morning to late afternoon UTC. Planned release windows may require brief overlap outside core hours.
Payment Terms
Monthly salary with an annual performance review and bonus eligibility. For contractor engagements, milestone-based deliverables with biweekly invoicing and net-15 payment terms.
Evaluation Criteria
Quality of a short take-home exercise focused on test design, edge cases, and maintainable automation
Clarity and reproducibility of bug reports and diagnostics
Collaboration during a live pairing session improving an existing flaky test
Communication, ownership, and reliability assessed through interviews and references
Other Requirements
Standard NDA upon offer acceptance, identity verification, and reference checks compliant with local laws. Security and privacy training during onboarding. Light-touch time tracking for contractors to support accurate invoicing.
